Why Locals Love AAA Local BBQ
Nestled in the heart of Honolulu, AAA Local BBQ offers an authentic taste of Hawaiian-style barbecue that instantly feels like a warm island welcome. This charming spot at 801 Kaheka St delivers an unpretentious yet incredibly satisfying dining experience, perfect for those craving hearty, flavorful meals served with aloha spirit. Whether you're a local or a visitor eager to dive into true island comfort food, AAA Local BBQ’s menu is a treasure trove of mouthwatering delights.
The cuisine at AAA Local BBQ centers on classic barbecue staples infused with regional flair. Their juicy, savory BBQ Pork and Spicy BBQ Pork, each expertly seasoned and grilled to perfection, stand out as must-tries for any meat lover. The Pork Chop and Pork Adobo options offer tender, well-marinated choices that carry deep umami notes, transporting your palate straight to a Hawaiian luau.
For those seeking a satisfying sandwich or a familiar favorite, the Burger & Fries selection showcases an enticing variety — from crispy Garlic Fries and cheesy Cheese Fries to the signature BBQ Cheese Burger Deluxe, each bite delivering layers of smoky, cheesy goodness. The fries, especially the House Special Fries, are crispy on the outside with a fluffy interior, making every forkful addictive. Meanwhile, their side orders, such as the perfectly browned Hash Browns and buttery Grilled Cheese, round out the meals beautifully.
But what truly makes AAA Local BBQ stand out is the blend of hearty portions, authentic flavors, and a down-to-earth dining atmosphere that locals adore. Customers rave about the friendly service and the genuine care that the staff put into each dish. As one guest fondly remarked, the chicken katsu plate isn’t just generously portioned—it’s cooked with precision and affection, making you want to savor every bite and keep coming back for more.
Though the setting is simple, reminiscent of a welcoming neighborhood gem rather than a polished restaurant, the vibe is perfectly suited for quick yet memorable meals. Covered seating and easy parking make it a convenient stop, whether you’re grabbing a midday lunch or a laid-back dinner. You'll often find a crowd of locals arriving early, a true testament to the consistency and quality AAA Local BBQ serves day in and day out.
Whether you're craving the familiar comfort of teriyaki-infused offerings, the rich heartiness of BBQ pork, or a creative twist on your burger and fries, AAA Local BBQ delivers flavors that hit just the right note of satisfying and soulful. For anyone seeking the genuine taste of Hawaiian barbecue with a welcoming spirit—that 'just like home' feeling—this modest yet beloved eatery is an absolute must-visit.

Saw 1/2 dozen locals waiting for them to open at 6 am so considered it a good sign. Nothing fancy but fast and tasty. Fried rice more a sticky rice but still very good.

I got to try the chicken katsu plate for $12.99 and "WOW" they do give a lot and it was very tasty. I ended up saving some to have it as a dinner. The lady working there is very helpful and friendly and she just makes everything good.

Great quick spot to pick up food and well priced, too! Nice to have other options nearby as well. Easy parking and covered seating for a tasty, casual meal. Pork was a little dry and less seasoned than expected, Mochiko Chicken was delicious.

Food was great! The service was fast and the musubis were pretty good. They do take cash, credit, debit. I ordered their special $6.99; one spam, smoky sausage, 2 eggs, link sausage, and choice of fried rice or steamed. Absolutely great! Tables were available right outside and many more. Drinks (can) were $.99 and water bottle $1.09 (i think). Catering is also available. Always great to support local!

So many great choices of good local food ! Maybe ? Since the chefs there are Chinese also the staffs were all speaking Chinese though. However the food there was quite good ! The price was pretty cheap too ! The portion of one bentou was enough for 2 ! Certainly a good place to eat cheap, after shopping in Donquijote !

Food was outstanding, and for an incredible cost. Expect to only pay 9-13$ per meal, which is incredibly reasonable given the price ranges for other places in the area. The service was a tad bit slow, but other than that, it was great. Would recommend, especially since it is so close to Don Quixote, so you can get things like drinks and gifts there while you wait.
